Together with 6 students from the Business advanced semester lecturer Petra Janssen participated in the Travel Challenge 2023. This is a challenge organised by the main players in the travel branch toghether with educational institutes to find talent for their companies. They traveled to Fuerteventura with 62 students from different educations in total. In multidisciplinary groups the students had to develop a concept to attract tourist to the island in a sustainable way. The concept needed to be based on one of 8 locations available on the island.
The contribution of the ICT & Business students was on multiple fields. Data needed to be analysed to decide which ideas could be realised and which not, a business model canvas had to be created for the new concept and some concepts had an app as part of the experience for visitors.
There were several presentations from professionals that showed amongst others the need for IT in the travel branch and the students all did a SPA-analysis about their professional skills, strenghts and weaknesses.
All together it was a great learning experience for the students and a way for the travel branch to show their attractiviness to young talent.
In the winning team, FICT was represented by student Eva Bijker.
