Today we received a visit from the HOOI society, Higher Education Old Internationals. This group of retirees from Higher Education in the Netherlands with a special interest in internationalization -their former field of work- visits several institutions every year. This time they were guests at Fontys ICT at the invitation of board chairman Joep Houterman.
During the day it became clear once again how broad the internationalization perspective is. English language education, international intake with major and current changes in regulating intake and retaining international students for the labor market, especially following what is going on in politics. Joep Houterman highlighted the political climate in historical perspective.
Next, the Fontys vision on internationalization and a number of policy areas that are now receiving (extra) attention from the Student Services Department. Also the translation of that vision and strategy at Fontys ICT and of course various internationalization aspects within education in practice. Think of internationalization of the curriculum, student and staff mobility, international cooperation projects, international weeks, intercultural development.
For the guests at this Fontys ICT location as a breeding ground, there was also a focus on innovative education and research, collaboration with the professional field and teaching methods.
All areas discussed by the strong involved Fontys ICT colleagues. It was a pleasant, interesting and inspiring day!
