Travel Challenge 2026
Thé event where HO students, companies, experts and educational institutions come together. Five days of working together on a case/concept in the beautiful European destination.
The home base is the Vayamundo in Houffalize. This region offers exactly the right energy for the Travel Challenge: think authentic medieval villages and impressive castles that form the perfect backdrop for our games, and green valleys for the more athletic challenges.
What exactly is the Travel Challenge?
In June 2026, a group students and experts from renowned travel companies will travel to a beautiful destination abroad. The tourism students and the students from courses such as Marketing, IT, Data, Sales, Business Administration, and so on will work together in small teams on a case. This case will contain elements of innovation and sustainability and will be co-curated by the tourism office. Really making an impact!
Experts from the travel companies will support the students in this case, the chance to learn from the best! By networking smartly and making good connections, you might even fly home with a top job. We won't see the conference hall much! In fact, we will work in beautiful locations and have experiences that will stay with us forever.
Who are the participants?
The travel industry is in great need of new talent in various fields. With the Travel Challenge, we hope to get not only tourism students, but also students who are not studying tourism, enthusiastic about a job in this beautiful industry. After the previous edition, no less than a quarter of the students got a top job in the travel industry!
Of course, the Travel Challenge would not be complete without experts from various travel companies. Together with experts from education, they support the students in working on the case.
What to expect
In June 2026, we will travel to a top destination together with a larger group of students, speakers, experts and delegates from travel companies. The adventure starts immediately on day 1; with about 100 people, we will travel to our destination by touring car. The Challenge now really gets underway!
We will keep the exact programme a secret but this is what you can expect:
Labour market fund Reiswerk
Reiswerk is the labour market fund for the travel sector. We are here for all employees who work in this sector. Our objective is to ensure there are sufficient future-proof travel professionals. Our activities are geared towards attracting new talent and the retention of employees in the travel sector. We also provide information about employment conditions and labour market developments in the travel sector. Our reiswerk.nl website is the leading knowledge platform for everyone who works, or wants to work, in the travel sector.
The formula for success
This year, you can once again expect the same strong concept that never fails to inspire students:
• Challenging Business Case: Students tackle a real-life case from the travel industry.
• Multidisciplinary teams: Intensive collaboration with talented students from different study programmes.
• Brainstorming with experts: Direct contact and substantive discussions with professionals and experts from the sector.
• Inspiring conversations about the latest developments and challenges within the industry.
• SPA conversations: This year, students will once again have individual SPA conversations on location.

For cancellation, the following rules apply
In case of cancellation, only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded if the cancellation is done at least 4 weeks before the start of the project. After that, the total amount is non-refundable.
This means cancellation up to 4 weeks: 50% payment due.
Cancellation less than 4 weeks before start date of the week: full amount due.
